ISG International Inc., established in 1977
Upon graduating from the University of Maryland in 1975, G. Philip Feldman (Phil) tried his hand as a commission salesman for a realty company in Columbia, MD before he began training as a commission-only salesman at Insurance, Inc. Part of his employment terms stipulated that if he produced, he would share in both profits and ownership in direct relationship to his production, thus beginning his legacy as a shareholder of Insurance, Inc.
Phil received his insurance license in February and soon wrote his first real policy. By the time April rolled around, he had secured an endorsement from the Baltimore Area TV Repair Dealers Association writing the first BOP policy designed by St. Paul called the Series 500. In July, he moved to Cambridge, MD to open his own office and began what was to later be known as, ISG.
1981
After having turned down a lucrative job as office manager of Bay Country Insurance back in 1977, Phil bought them out in November of 1981, expanding his reach throughout the Eastern Shore of Maryland.
1983
In July of 1983, Phil and his wife Marlene purchased a lot at 204 Cedar Street in Cambridge, MD. Later that year, Phil received his second major endorsement from East Coast Bonanza Owners Association; writing over 50 restaurants as a result.
1985
Joining forces with his accountant, Tom Trice of C.W. Amos, building began on the 204 Cedar Street lot. Upon completion, G. Philip Feldman Inc., occupied one quarter of the building while, C.W. Amos occupied one half.
1986
The first employees of G. Philip Feldman Inc., were hired. Sheila Hickman and Randy Pryor began their careers in October and November respectively. [Side note: Both Sheila and Randy continue their employment at RPS ISG to this day.]
1987
In January, as the largest shareholder of Insurance Inc., Phil left with Bob Wertheimer to form Insurance Services Group Inc., headquartered in Towson, MD. Later that same year, Phil and Marlene bought out Tom Trice and became the sole owners of “that building on Cedar Street."
1989
Having enjoyed much success in the past with various niche associations, Phil once again began to establish himself as a reliable partner – this time within the technology industry. In 1989, he began selling insurance to computer consulting companies.
1990
Through a series of referrals, the computer consulting niche took off. In 1990, Phil developed CCBsure®, a leading, national, computer-centric insurance program.
1998
In January, Phil sold his interest in Insurance Services Group Inc., and formally began ISG International Inc. (ISG), renaming what had previously been known as G. Philip Feldman, Inc.
2000
In October of 2000, the new building was completed, making ISG the largest insurance agency on the Eastern Shore.
